Making a Friction Folder
 
In the following photos I have shown the making and construction of a friction folding pocket knife.
 
 
 

1. A bar is drawn out and flattened2. The blade is forged with a narrowed bit for the tail stop3. The tang is split and tidied4. The split end is forged together and drawn out5. The blade is forged evenly6. The edge bevel is forged in7. The unsplit part of the tail is twisted
8. The split end is spread apart9. Each end is scrolled.10. The blade normalised hardened tempered ground and brushed.11. The blade is used as a template once the pivot hole is drilled12. A slot is cut square to the pivot to accept the blade13. Then the shape of the front of the handle is made14. Then the slot for the blade is cut to fit
15. The handle sides  and ends are shaped symetrically.16. The Lilac handle is tidied, sanded and polished17. The blade is filed and the rough edges are rounded. It is then sharpene18. Showing the pivot with thin steel and cup washers19. The pivot is peened over the cups giving strength20. Finished knife - closed position21. Finished knife - open
